Christmas Crafts for Kids

Christmas crafts for kids are certain to enhance the joy of the season. They can also enliven the spirit of Christmas giving. All are perfect handmade gifts. "It is more blessed togive than to receive." Bible Acts: 20:35
Christmas Crafts for Kids: Pine Cone Christmas Tree
This would be especially nice for an elderly person who is shut-in.
Materials:
- pine cone
- small beads
sequins
red hots
dragees
- shiny gold or silver heavy paper or cardstock
- glue
- tweezers
- fake snow, spray or bagged
- silver doily or holiday paper plate
- small twigs of evergreens (optional)
1. Decorate the pine cone. Use the beads, sequins and other small baubles.
2. Glue them in place. Tweezers make the task easier.
3. Cut a star from the paper.
4. Glue it to the top of the cone.
5. Place the tree on a firm surface. Use the holiday plate or the doily on a plain plate.
6. Lightly sprinkle with the snow.
7. At the base, arrange the tiny twigs or more snow.

Christmas Crafts for Kids: Paper Candle
This can be used as a window decoration or a placemat (cover with clear plastic shelf papers on both sides to protect it.)
- construction paper--one sheet each of green, red, orange, yellow, white and black
- glue
- scissors
- ruler
- pencil
1. Lay the red sheet horizontally.
2. Cut a wide band of green construction paper, 2"x12".
3. Glue it across the middle of the red sheet.
4. Cut out a
yellow circle, 3" in diameter (the background for the candle flame)
white candle shape, 4"x 3"
orange flame
black rectangular candle holder (get as fancy as you like)
5. Arrange shapes on red and green sheet.
6. Glue in place.

Christmas Craft for Kids Recipe: Popcorn Balls
This makes 1 dozen.
- 14 cups popped corn
- 1 cup salted peanuts
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
- 1 tsp. root beer extract
- 1/4 tsp. salt
1. In a large buttered bowl, combine popped corn and peanuts, set aside.
2. Butter the sides of a 2 quart saucepan. In saucepan combine water, sugar, corn syrup, butter or margarine, extract and salt.
3. Cook and stir till sugar dissolves. Get to soft ball stage, 238 degrees.
4. Pour over popped corn and stir to coat.
5. Let mixture stand 8-10 minutes.
6. Lightly butter hands. Stir to distribute peanuts.
7. Shape into 3" balls.
8. Wrap in plastic wrap. Tie with ribbon.
These can be decorated if given as gifts.
