Please feel free to copy and share.
- Shoe Relay
Prepare for bedlam and tons of laughs. This is a ridiculous and hilarious competition.
First of all, the children divide into two teams. Check out the easy
ways
to do this.
All take off their shoes and dump them in a huge pile. Mix them up for good measure.
The two groups line up as far as possible from the shoe heap. (Gauge this according to the ages participating.)
Tape or draw a line behind which the teams must stay.
At the signal, the first two opponents rush to the mound, dig up their shoes, and put them on completely (that is, tie the ties, buckle the buckles, etc.) and scurry back to their teams.
Someone may need to act as monitor to make sure all actually totally don their footwear. If anyone doesn't, he must return to do it right!
The initial players slap hands with the next two who in turn race to the shoes, put them on, etc.
The relay continues until one team is finally shod. These are the winners!
- Where Is It?
Players sit closely together in a circle with "The Hunter" in the center. Like many children's games, this begins with choosing an person to be "It."
(Try to use a fair, positive way to
choose
"The Hunter" aka "It.")
The Hunter closes his eyes while a small object is given to one player. It begins to be covertly passed from child to child.
After a count to ten, The Hunter opens his eyes and tries to figure out who has the tiny item.
To confuse The Hunter, all the youngsters act like they have an article or are passing it.
When The Hunter thinks he knows who has the object, he calls out that person's name.
If he is correct, that player is the new Hunter. If not, play continues.
- Make Me Laugh
Children sit in a circle.
One player begins by saying, "Ha," very seriously.
The next person says, "Ha, Ha," also very seriously.
The third child says, "Ha, Ha, Ha," without cracking a smile.
The game goes around the circle with each youngster adding a "Ha" to the string.
The one speaking must not grin or laugh. If he does, or if he makes a mistake with all the Ha's," then he is out. However, those who are out now may try to make laugh those left
in the contest. Any method is legal as long as those out stay in the center of the group (no touching or getting too close). Antics can be crazy and silly.
The winner is the child who kept a straight face the longest--the one left in the circle.
- Who Gets the Present?
Wrap a small gift in five or more layers of paper. Tie with a ribbon.
The players sit in a circle.
Begin a CD or tape as the children start passing the present around the group as quickly as possible.
Stop the music. The one holding the item unties the bow.
When the music begins once more, the youngsters again pass the present.
When the CD stops, so does the present and another layer of wrap is removed.
Continue the procedure until the final paper is taken off. Whichever player has the gift at this juncture, wins the gift.
Depending on how many items are wrapped, several games might
be in order.
It might be nice to have candy or gum or something small for each child.
Have fun with all these children's games. They will brighten any rainy, cold day!
