Rewarding Homeschool Ideas

for Daily Fun and Learning

happy homeschool girls

The homeschool ideas here are designed to help us homeschooling families make memories.

Too often we (I) find that the day, the week, the month has just slipped by. Where did it go? What did we do?

Use the suggestions here to help you focus...to engage...to use time wisely...even on "ordinary" days. The activities are simple but worthy, perfect for busy Moms.

"Life happens while we're remembering the past and planning the future."

"In the meantime,
in between time,
Ain't we got fun."
Raymond B. Egan

We homeschooling parents have a fabulous opportunity to really know and enjoy our children. Let's do it!

Homeschool ideas are up-for-grabs...anytime...

--as a welcome break during the school day
--when everyone is wild or cranky (including you)
--schoolwork is finished early
--when the pressure needs a release
--for planned family time
--as a distraction --when you need to connect with a certain child
--when a planned activity is cancelled
--on rainy days
--for just a minute of fun

The following are a few tips to keep in mind:

  • Keep a camera close by. Take lots of pictures. These are the moments of which memories are made.

  • Mix it up. Children love surprises. A variety of activities keeps their interest.

  • Be prepared. Select 7-10 . Then you'll have choices. One may be appealing/appropriate for one time, another at another time. Include some that would engage your preschool homeschool children and others for your high schoolers. (I usually sat down every two weeks or so to pick them.)

  • Post the ideas in a convenient place.

  • Have a project spot. Look over a list. Gather or purchase any materials you need.

  • A special treat: Check out this site for fun monthly and holiday Word Search Puzzles.

  • Stay flexible.

  • Check out this interesting source for lapbooks! Creating lapbooks is a hands-on method ideal for learning, teaching and reinforcing material. It can also be used for making memory books about our children and their learning adventures.

resources4homeschoolers includes clear, detailed instructions about making these educational tools and possible topics of interest.

Use all of these thoughts however best they serve you and your family. Enjoy!
