With These Coupons

Try these free coupons to pique your child's interest in reading. Just copy them on card stock or colored paper, then cut out. When your youngster has finished a book, he can fill one out and redeem it for a pre-arranged treat.*

*Use the coupons as best fits your youngster. If he is having trouble, maybe only one ticket is needed. However, if he is older or very prolific, then set a higher requirement. The prize can be anything your imagination dreams up! (A new classic is always appropriate.)

Tips on encouragement:

• Share the story... aloud... daily (or as much as you can.) Make it a habit.

• Check these lists (ages are approximate) 8-12 years, and 13 years and older for ideas.

• Steer your child to his skill level.

• Set a time for everyone to grab his current story, sit down together, relax and enjoy quiet time. Toddlers can color or play right beside you.

• Sample a variety--fiction, (include historical fiction), religious, series, biographies, humorous, etc.
