*Use the coupons as best fits your youngster. If he is having trouble, maybe only one ticket is needed. However, if he is older or very prolific, then set a higher requirement. The prize can be anything your imagination dreams up! (A new classic is always appropriate.)
Tips on encouragement:
- Share the story... aloud... daily (or as much as you can.) Make it a habit.
- Check these lists (ages are approximate)
8-12 years,
and
13 years and older
for ideas.
- Steer your child to his skill level.
- Set a time for everyone to grab his current story, sit down together, relax and enjoy quiet time. Toddlers can color or play right beside you.
- Sample a variety--fiction, (include historical fiction), religious, series, biographies, humorous, etc.
"The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who can't..." Mark Twain
