November Free Homeschool Activities
- Recipes--Anticipate the warmth of the coming holidays. Make two of the quintessential recipes of the Thanksgiving season.
"Libby's Famous Pumpkin Pie"
- 1 unbaked 9" deep dish pie shell (refrigerated, frozen, or homemade)
- 2 eggs
- 1 can solid pumpkin
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2" teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 can (12 fluid ounces) undiluted evaporated milk
--Prepare pie shell. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
--Beat eggs lightly in large bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients in order given. Pour into pie shell.
--Bake for 15 minutes at 425. Reduce temperature to 350 degrees; bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.

Yummy Hot Cider--(slow-cooker recipe that serves 10-11)
- 3 3 " cinnamon sticks
- 2 teaspoon whole cloves
- 1 teaspoon whole nutmeg or 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 gallon apple cider
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups orange juice
- 1/2 cup lemon juice
--Tie spices in cheesecloth or tea strainer and place in slow cooker.
--Add apple cider and sugar. Stir well.
--Cover. Simmer on low 1 hour. Remove spices. Stir in juices. Continue heating for 1 additional hour.

Scarecrow Shapes
- construction paper--1 sheet of white and several sheets of other colors
- scissors
- glue
- ruler and pencil
- straw or raffia
- markers
--Using ruler and pencil to mark lines, cut the following shapes from the various colored paper: 1 large circle for face
1 large square for body
4 small circles for hands and feet
1 large triangle for hat
4 long, thin rectangles for arms and legs
--Begin by placing large square (body) in center of white paper.
Arrange other body parts.
When satisfied, glue.
Place straw in appropriate places, for example, about the hat, neckline, wrists and ankles.
Draw facial features. (Older children could cut the features from construction paper.)
- Begin to gather Christmas literature and music. Pick out favorites and make a list of songs, books, poems and stories to share with the family.
