Homeschool ideas for Nature/Science Projects for Indian Summer:

  • In most areas, it's time to plant spring-flowering bulbs. (In very warm climates, wait until January.) The early bulbs include Crocus crysanthus, Glory of the Snow, Snowdrop, Winter Aconite, Grape Hyacinth, Siberian Squill and Spring Snowflake.

  • Rake those swirling, twirling leaves. Then, let nature take its course; jump in that huge, crunchy, irresistible mound! Great for p.e. Only then add them to your flower beds as mulch or compost pile to become rich plant food.

  • The changing colors and textures of nature invite artists of all shapes, sizes, ages and abilities. Examine and appreciate our wonderful world--paint, draw, color, gather.

  • Spiders are particularly busy during autumn. For art, have the children make their own spider webs.
