Desperation Leads to

Inspiration and Hope

homeschool family with computer

This is a story of inspiration and hope and solutions, but it didn't begin that way...

This site was built under duress, the loss of a job and income. In December of 2004, my husband received notice that his company was selling a division, and that a Human Resources Director was no longer needed.

This was quite a blow. Yes, it was just before Christmas, but also we have two children in college and one still in high school...and my husband is in his 50's.

Nevertheless, he updated his resume and began making 'phone calls. He was very consistent but had little results. After twelve months of mailing resumes, networking and interviewing, he had several encouraging interviews but still no job.

We were very worried. So because this is America and still the land of opportunity, we began looking for alternative income. My husband talked with our friend in the insurance business and began to study for the exams.

I thought I should help, too. I had not worked outside the home since shortly after college graduation...and there was never any question but that we would continue to homeschool our youngest son. Additionally, I didn't want another job. Being a full-time wife and mother is my top priority. So what to do?

We looked through several homeschool business ideas. I needed something that could be done at home, earn income, and not in any way interfere with family life. A pretty tall order!

However, being an optimist, I began to scour the internet for ideas. Believe me, there were plenty of schemes out there floating in space. My husband, thankfully, is very cautious. We studiously avoided all the get-rich-quick scams. That eliminated a lot of the "noise."

By Divine inspiration, however, I did come upon an opportunity that really is a business. It is called Site Build It!...and it lead us to create this site.

See for yourself.

It fulfills all our "requirements."

  • I can stay at home and homeschool.

  • My family time remains intact.

  • We earn income.

In addition--just like homeschooling--we have discovered several hidden benefits of our website business. It has become a family affair, and we can assist homeschoolers by offering encouragement and information, gleaned from our nineteen years of home teaching.

My husband did find work last March as Human Resources Regional Director with a non-profit agency (a great organization). But by then "homeschool-living" was a part of us, a connection with 1)wonderful homeschoolers like you and 2)the other generous SBI owners.

If you need additional earnings--for college education(s) or whatever, please check out SBI. It's a first-rate, honest company that over-delivers. I guarantee that you, too, be find inspiration and hope. You will not be disappointed.

See if this works for you and your family!
